Wolfe Leads Wrestlers At Great Lakes Regional

MEQUON, Wis. – Andrew Wolfe’s (Jr., Milwaukie, Ore.) two victories at 133 pounds led an otherwise rough closing competition for the Pacific men’s wrestling team as the Boxers competed at the NCAA Great Lakes Regional at Concordia University.

Wolfe earned both of his victories in the consolation bracket after taking a 12-5 decision to Lakeland’s Roberto Frias in the first round. He opened consolation wrestling with a first round pin over Jonathan Rhine and then edged out St. Olaf’s Ryan Timmerman, 11-9.

The journey ended in the consolation quarterfinals, though, as Jake Denhof of Elmhurst scored a first round fall on his way to a fourth place finish.

Outside of Wolfe’s two wins, Pacific earned only two other victories from the roster of seven grapplers. Kody Kramer (So., Oroville, Wash.) was a winner in the consolation bracket over Matt McIntyre of Augustana (Ill.), 5-3, while Lane Wiltshire (Fr., Eagle Creek, Ore.) earned a win at 174 pounds by medical default.

Augsburg once again claimed the team title, scoring 159 points as four Auggies won their weight classes. Concordia (S.D.) was second at 117.5 points. Pacific finished 15th, compiling a total of seven points.
