Wrestlers Fall Short at Regionals
Kirksville, Mo. – Newman University wrestler Isaac Wall fell just short of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament in his first year of DII competition. Wall posted two wins at the Region 2 Tournament held at Truman State University Sunday.
Wall (25-8) entered as the No. 3 seed in the 133-lb. weight class. After a first-round bye, Wall dropped a 15-6 decision to No. 6-seeded Jake Bartley of Ashland University. Wall bounced back to knock off Brandon Kircher (Univ. of Wisc.-Parkside) and James Crone (Truman State). Scott Berens (Central Oklahoma), the No. 5 seed, then defeated Wall for the right to advance to the third-place match. Wall was forced to forfeit the 5th-place match.
James Fox, the No. 5 seed in the 141-lb. weight class also posted a win for the Jets.
