Jackson on Recruiting Trail

AMES, Iowa – Iowa State head wrestling coach Kevin Jackson is hitting the road. Jackson and his staff have spent June analyzing potential future Cyclones. Jackson hits the recruiting trail Wednesday.
“(Iowa State assistant coach Chris Bono) and I will be leaving Wednesday and start to see recruits in their homes,†Jackson said. “Chris and I know what kind of guys we are looking to bring to Iowa State.â€
Jackson says that assistant coach Yero Washington will head out on the road after Jackson and Bono return to Ames.
In the interim, Jackson says the current Cyclone wrestlers are making great summer progress.
“Our guys have been working hard through the Iowa State wrestling camps,†Jackson said. “I have been impressed with their work ethic.â€
Iowa State’s designation by USA Wrestling as a regional training site has also spurred the Cyclone program.
“Our wrestlers are ahead of schedule,†Jackson said.
The new Iowa State coach has also implemented a new weight training program.
“Our guys are really going to benefit from their hard work,†Jackson said. “Every wrestler currently in town has already started their strength and conditioning programs.â€
