Jimmies in National Meet Action

 

Five Jimmie wrestlers saw action on the opening day of the NAIA National Tournament. Brandon Roehrich picked up a first-round win.

Roehrich defeated Jeremy Garner of Oklahoma City 4-3 in the opening round of the 141# class. He then faced DAC foe, Eli Zuiniga of Dickinson State and lost a 3-1 decision.

Sean Blumhardt, Joseph Michel, Aaron Field and Willie Hernandez all lost opening round matches and will struggle through the wrestle-backs.

Blumhardt lost a 12-4 major decision to Notre Dame College’s Dante Rini in the 125# class.

Michel also competed at 141# and lost 83- to Alpetekan Ozicilic of Lindenwood.

Field, wrestling at 197#, lost by technical fall to Ali Al-Rekabi from Simon Frazier.

Hernandez lost 6-4 to York College’s Jason Lloyd in the heavyweight division.

The tournament continues Friday and Saturday in Oklahoma City.
