Storm Wrestling Season Complete

STORM REWIND: Simpson College (53.5) finished eighth (53.5) at the Iowa Conference Tournament Feb. 17 in Decorah.
Caleb Brus (So., Creston, Iowa, Creston H.S.) placed fifth at 141 pounds. In quarterfinals, Brus pinned No. 10 Kevin Donahue at the 2:04 mark to advance. Losing in the semis, Brus dropped a 2-0 decision to Kevin Bokoski in the consolation semifinals. Brus, the No. 6 seed, defeated the No. 4 seed, Coe’s Johnny Siegel by medical forfeit to earn fifth.
Calvin Barber (Jr., Winterset, Iowa, Winterset H.S.) finished fifth at 149 pounds. Barber lost in the quarterfinals before winning his consolation quarter over Loras’ Mitch Gansen. Barber lost in the consolation semis to Coe’s Mark Carey. In the fifth place match, Barber, who was the No. 6 seed in the tournament, pinned No. 5 Semir Duric of Buena Vista 3:06 into the match.
Ben Hektoen (Sr., Birmingham, Iowa, Fairfield H.S.) was fifth at 157 pounds. Hektoen lost in the quarterfinals befor bouncing back to defeat Nate Harm of Dubuque in the consolation quarterinals. Jonathon Quist of Luther defeated Hektoen in the consolation semifinals. As the No. 5 seed, Hekoten beat No. 6 Seth Pugh of Coe 9-1 to take home fifth.
Curtis Barber (Jr., Winterset, Iowa, Winterset H.S.) posted a 2-2 mark at 165 pounds to earn a seventh place showing.
Sam Collora (Jr., Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, Mt. Pleasant H.S.) was 1-3 at 197 pounds on his way to an eight place finish.
Jordy Ammons (So., Knoxville, Iowa, Knoxville H.S.) tallied a 1-3 record at 174 pounds to place eighth.
Casey Miller (So., Overland Park, Kan., Blue Valley NW H.S.) went 0-2 at 125 pounds.
