TWO McKENDREE WRESTLERS LAND SPOTS ON NWCA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM

(LEBANON, Ill., April 1)—McKendree University wrestlers Tom Edwards (Shiloh, Ill./Belleville East) and Kyle Williams (Scott Air Force Base, Ill./Mascoutah) were both recently named to the 2009 National Wrestling Coaches Association/NAIA All-Academic team. The Bearcats also had the eighth highest team GPA in NAIA wrestling with a 2.94.

Edwards, a senior math major, finished his final collegiate season with a record of 16-15 and was a national qualifier at 184 pounds. His 3.877 GPA was the fifth highest in all of NAIA wrestling.

Williams, a freshman business major, completed his first collegiate season with a record of 26-13 overall record and finished in sixth place at the 2009 NAIA Wrestling National Championship at 133 pounds.

The Bearcats finished in third place at the 2008-09 NAIA Wrestling National Championships and had seven wrestlers earn NAIA All-America honors, including two individual National Champions.
