Two Pioneers earn national academic honors

UW-Platteville’s Jesse Milks and Ryan Higgins earned places on the 2009 NCAA Division III All-Scholar Team by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).

Milks earned all-America honors for the second straight year and won his second consecutive Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 157-pound title. The junior from Rock City, Ill. (Dakota High School) was 22-3 on the season that concluded with him placing fifth at nationals. He is an industrial studies major with a 3.18 grade-point average.

Higgins, a senior from Oconomowoc, is honored for the third time. He is a three-time national qualifier, a 2007 all-American and an academic all-American. Higgins finished his career with a sparkling 112-33 record. He carries a 3.34 g.p.a. while majoring in electrical engineering.
