Wrestling adds recruits from Texas, Minnesota

 

Sioux Falls, SD – The University of Sioux Falls wrestling coach Tim Homan is pleased to announce the signing of Joey Goolsby (Lewisville, Texas) and Tal Bakke (Cambridge, Minn.) for the 2009-2010 year.

Goolsby projects to wrestle at 133 pounds and comes to the Cougars from Lewisville High School, where he accumulated a career record of 174-24 as a three-time district champion. In 2008, he earned both the Texas Greco and Freestyle state championships A remarkable talent, he became a two-time regional place winner and a two-time state qualifier.. Goolsby was a mainstay on the honor roll.

“We look forward to having Joey here at USF,” Homan said. “Joey is a very competitive individual that will bring excitement to the lower weights. He is a very dedicated individual that will strive for excellence on and off the mat.”

Bakke is a 2008 graduate of Cambridge-Isanti, where he was state entrant with 26 wins as a senior. A former team captain, he plans to wrestle at either 184 or 197 pounds for USF.

“Tal is quality person and will make an excellent addition to the Cougar wrestling team and the USF community,” Homan said. “Tal will help solidify the upper weight classes for the Cougars. He has the ability and desire to develop into a quality college wrestler. We look forward to what he will add to our team.”
