Hoffer Follows Trujillo and Becomes a Sun Devil
by Willie Saylor
In just a little over a month into their new campaign, Shawn Charles and Company are already making a splash in the national recruiting scene. Arizona State seems poised to bring a top class to Tempe.
A day after gaining a verbal commitment from Louis Trujillo, the Sun Devils received more good news from another nationally ranked wrestler. Nathan Hoffer of Wasilla, Alaska, committed to ASU late Friday evening. Both wrestlers are in the top five of theopenmat’s Top Prospect Rankings.
Hoffer, a 3x state champion and this year’s NHSCA Junior Nationals Champion, says he will wrestle 141 for the Sun Devils.
Trujillo, of New Mexico’s perennially strong Rio Rancho program, projects at 133. He has won 3 NHSCA class titles and a Cadet Freestyle national title.
The Open Mat will have interviews with both new Sun Devils forthcoming to discuss their college selection.
