Concordia College Preview and 2009-10 Schedule
The Concordia College wrestling team is looking forward to another exciting season, highlighted again by a trip to the National Duals in January. The National Duals feature the top teams in DI, DII, DIII, NAIA and the Junior Colleges. The Cobbers were again selected for this prestigious tournament because of their strong showing last season placing fifth against the top ranked teams in DIII. The Cobbers will also be competing in the Wartburg Desert Duals Tournament on December 20th.
Last season the Cobbers finished the year ranked eighth nationally. They finished second at the Great Lakes Regional and compiled a 10-1 dual record on the season. Concordia had a national finalist – Phil Moenkedick at 184 pounds.
Coach Nagel is excited about the hiring of new Head Assistant Matt Nagel to his staff. “Matt will bring a higher level of competition and technique to the Cobbers wrestling room,” stated Nagel. Matt was a three-time Division I National Championships qualifier, served as team captain, and was an All-American at 165 pounds for the University of Minnesota.
Coach Clay Nagel and his assistants Matt Nagel, Dennis Kaatz and Greg Schmitz are looking at a strong group of new recruits this season that are eager to get on the mat and compete.
