Knights, Miller need to reload
WAVERLY — If history counted, Wartburg head wrestling coach Jim Miller would be feeling pretty good.
The seven national championship banners that wave in Levick Arena aren’t comforting him much, either.
Nationally, those banners and recent history don’t appear to be carrying much weight, as well.
The first Brute-Adidas NWCA Division III coaches rankings were released Thursday and Miller’s two-time defending national champions are ranked sixth.
Miller and his Knights, however, don’t feel slighted.
“On paper the bottom line is … last year we had three national champions coming back plus three other all-Americans,” Miller said. “This year we’ve got three guys back who’ve wrestled varsity.”
