Edinboro goes for record fifth straight PSAC wrestling title
Edinboro makes its home season wrestling debut today, and the Fighting Scots will try to do it in record fashion.
After three straight weekends on the road followed by a week off, the Scots host the PSAC championships at McComb Fieldhouse. Wrestling begins at 9:30 a.m., with the medal rounds at 6:30 p.m.
The Scots are seeking their fifth straight conference title, which would match the record set by Lock Haven in the 1940s. Mercyhurst College and Gannon also are in the 10-team field.
“We’re excited about competing at home,” Edinboro coach Tim Flynn said. “I don’t think we’ve really competed superbly thus far, and hopefully we’ll have a much better showing this weekend.”
The 17th-ranked Scots are coming off a 2-1 showing at the Sprawl and Brawl Duals two weeks ago that included a 22-9 loss to Penn State. Before that, they finished fourth out of eight teams at the Oklahoma Gold Classic and had two individual champs at the season-opening Eastern Michigan Open.
