7 Minutes with TOM – Frank Molinaro

People have been asking us when we would bring back our popular feature “7 Minutes with TOM”. Well, today would be the correct answer. We will be bringing you our quick hit interviews the rest of the season.

This is our attempt to allow the fans to get to know some of their favorite wrestlers better through their own words.

We kick it off with Frank Molinaro of Penn State. The red shirt Junior is looking to become a three time All-American and National Champion this season for the now, number ranked Nittany Lions.

Currently TOM has Frank (some refer to as “The Tank”) Molinaro ranked fifth in the country. He is a leader on a team that many thought were still a year away from being a national threat. He missed some time early in the season, but has been wrestling at a very high level for the past month or so.

TOM: What is the biggest personal or wrestling-related obstacle you have had to overcome?

FM: My freshman year I wrestled a large portion of the year really sick. I didn’t qualify and got the wild card that year.

TOM: To date what is your most memorable match and why?

FM: My first state championship was my sophomore year. I was wresting Jordan Burroughs in the finals and managed to escaped with two seconds left in double overtime for the win.

TOM: What is the single biggest thing that wrestling has taught you about life?

FM: I would have to say discipline and my competitive nature.

TOM: How have you improved from last season to this one? What helped that improvement?

FM: I’m in a lot better conditioning this year and I would have to say I’m a smarter wrestler. I think wrestling over the summer and working with the coaches has helped me improve a lot.

TOM: Have you considered a MMA career after you are done competing?

FM: I’ve thought about it. I think I’ll have to give it a try after.

TOM: What person has had the biggest impact on your wrestling career and why?

FM: My parents because they’ve been through the worst and the best with me and they are always there to pick me up or set me straight.

TOM: List three things fans may not know about you but should.

FM: I’m a pretty serious gamer, I love bowling, and I live in the Jersey Shore.

Overtime

TOM: If you could wrestle anyone from the past who would it be and why?

FM: I think I’d wrestle Kolat to see how funky he was.
