Campolattano Chooses Buckeyes

On Monday afternoon we final got to find out where one of the more coveted recruits decided to compete next year. In a Lebron James style announcement, Campolattano announced he would be attending The Ohio State University. We were told the big announcement would come on Tuesday, but why keep people in suspense.

New Jerseys all-time win leader made numerous wrestling coaches take notice when he decided to not play football in college. In a rare move, where wrestling beats out football in a competition for some of the best big men in the country, Campolattano chose the oldest and greatest sport.

On why he chose Ohio State “I chose Ohio State because they are going to give me the tools I need to reach every one of my goals as far as academics and wrestling goes.” If his dominance in high school can carry over into college, he will be a force at the next level.

What weight he will end up wrestling is still up in the air. Some project him as a Heavyweight and others think 197 would be a better fit for him. We would not be surprised to see him at both weights during his career.

The Buckeyes land a blue chip recruit that should help them bounce back from a disappointing 2010-11 season. This signing will help them and it will be interesting to see if they red shirt him out of the gate.
We will find out in just a few short months.
