Daniel Cormier and AKA: Perfect Together

 

Daniel Cormier trains at the prestigious American Kickboxing Academy, and he feels there is no better place.

Cormier was the lucky substitute to get a shot in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix after Alistair Overeem pulled out due to an injured toe.  The 2004 US Olympic wrestler intends to use this opportunity to grow his own stock and prove that he belongs in the same breath as the best heavyweights in the world.

When the unsuspecting shot came Cormier’s way, he accepted without hesitation.

“My coach and manager Bob Cook came in and told me that I may be getting a call,” Cormier told MMADieHards.com.  “He said he missed a call from Zuffa, but I’ll figure it out afterwards.  Then he received a call from (Antonio Silva) Big Foot’s manager saying that I guess we’re going to be standing across the cage from each other.  Bob then came and told me, and asked me how I felt about it.  I said, ‘Hey, let’s get it done.’

“I never hesitated for a second.  I chose this path, I chose this career, and I choose to fight the best guys in the world.”
