Strikeforce: Tyron Woodley gets his first big chance, with Paul Daley in the way
As Strikeforce welterweight Tyron Woodley (Twitter: @TWooodley) takes the necessary steps to grow his brand, Paul Daley stands between him and the next ascent.
Woodley can boast six finishes on his 8-0 record. Once signed to Strikeforce, Woodley continued to look more impressive in each fight, but he undoubtedly faces his toughest opponent Saturday. At Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Henderson, the Missouri native meets Daley, a British mixed martial artist with phenomenal striking abilities.
Woodley realizes what is at stake and how high his popularity could propel with a victory over the heavy-handed Daley. He also believes his chances of winning the fight are very good.
“(Beating Daley) will do a lot for me,” Woodley told MMADieHards.com. “He’s one of the top guys in Strikeforce, so a win over him is huge. It helps my career, my brand. When you look at his record, he’s finished like 80 percent of his opponents, but when you look at his losses, they’re mostly to wrestlers. Also, if the fight goes to a decision, he doesn’t have very good luck with winning decisions.”
