Willie Saylor, Editor

Last year, the Pittsburgh Central Catholic wrestling squad competed admirably with the best teams in the country. They were 11th at The Ironman, 3rd at Powerade, and Runners-Up at the State Individual Championships.

Coached by one of Pennsylvania’s top clinicians, and former NCAA Champion for Penn State, Sunny Abe, the Vikings ended the year as Honorable Mention in our Final Team Rankings For 2011 . On Saturday, one of their senior studs committed to college.

Tyler Manion

HM-Tyler Manion (149/157) will head to the Maryland Terrapins.

Manion goes into his senior year having placed at several national tournaments including 4th at NHSCA’s as a Junior, and 5th at the Powerade. He was a 6thplace finisher in PA’s big school division at the state championships.
