Kyle Frey picks up CAA Co-Wrestler of the week Honors
Lawrenceville, N.J. – Drexel’s Kyle Frey has been named CAA Co-Wrestler of the week for all competition from January 10-16; he shares the honor with Tristan Warner of Old Dominion. Frey, a senior heavy weight, earned the accolades after going 3-0 at the Virginia Duals outscoring his opponents 21-6. Frey is now 17-4 overall, remains unbeaten at 9-0 in dual matches and sits in the number one spot in the CAA at heavy weight.
In their first match the Dragons went up against a powerful No. 23 Edinboro where Frey was one of two Drexel wrestlers to win and pick up team points. Frey defeated the Fighting Scots’ Ernest James 5-4. The Washington, N.J. native gave up only two more points after that match as he defeated Evan Craig of Rider 6-1 and picked up a 10-1 major over Bucknell’s Tyler Lister. Drexel was narrowly edged by the Broncs as its CAA rival won 19-18 before downing Bucknell 20-17.
Frey and the Dragons pick up action this weekend in Fairfax, Va. at the CAA duals hosted by George Mason Saturday, January 21. Drexel will square off against Old Dominion and No. 24 Binghamton looking to pick up its first CAA victory of the season.
