North Carolina’s Mock named ACC Wrestler of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina 157-pound sophomore Corey Mock has been named the Atlantic Coast Conference Wrestler of the Week after posting a 3-0 record in last weekend’s Virginia Duals at Hampton, Va.

Mock’s pin of Rider’s Jimmy Morris in 2:48 keyed the Tar Heels to an 18-15 team win over Rider in their opening match of the event. Mock followed with an 11-1 major decision over Casey Fuller of ninth-ranked Edinboro and then scored a hard-fought 1-0 win over The Citadel’s Pierre Frazile.

Mock, a native of Chapel Hill, N.C., improved to 20-8 on the year and continues to be ranked No. 19 in his weight class nationally.
